Course Holder: Prof. dr. eng. Octavian FRATU
Laboratory holder: Prof. Dr. Eng. Alexandru VULPE
The subject aims to familiarise students with current mobile communication systems and to reinforce their knowledge of the fundamental aspects of their operation. Specific aspects of cellular systems are presented (working principles, consequences on the whole communication system). The key aspects of some typical mobile communication systems in widespread use are presented: GSM, GPRS, UMTS, HSPA, LTE, LTE-Advanced and 5G, with a focus on the performance of these systems and how they have evolved, through a comparative analysis of the solutions they have adopted.
