Network and service architectures
Course Holder: Prof. dr. eng. Octavian CATRINA
Laboratory holder: Prof. dr. eng. Octavian CATRINA
The course provides advanced knowledge of the architectures and protocols used in networks built using the TCP/IP and MPLS (Multi-Protocol Label Switching) protocol stack: in-depth study of intra-domain (RIP, OSPF) and inter-domain (BGP) unicast routing and multicast routing (PIM-DM/SM); in-depth study of MPLS-based networks, including traffic engineering (RSVP-TE) and virtual private network services based on MPLS and BGP. In the lab, students study the operation of these protocols and services through experiments with such networks and services, conducted using Cisco routers..
