Tehnologii de Acces și Transport

Access and Transport Technologies

Course Holder: Prof. dr. eng. Adrian PĂUN
Laboratory holder: Prof. dr. eng. Adrian PĂUN

The course provides advanced knowledge of the architectures and protocols used in data access and transport networks. The course content focuses on the main transport technologies in today's networks MPLS, SDH, ATM but also on fixed (DOCSIS, xPON) or mobile (UMTS,LTE, WiMax, WiFi) access networks. MAN, WPAN or point-to-multipoint networks. Technologies for WSN and WPAN sensor networks (Bluetooth, ZigBee, LoraWAN) are also presented. In the laboratory work students analyse the properties of the physical layer transmission techniques and the data link and network layer protocols used by the technologies in order to choose the appropriate values for optimising network performance for the classical scenarios and tools presented.
